Computation is no longer a tool people pick up and put down. It mediates how we work, how we relate to one another, and increasingly how we understand ourselves. The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence has accelerated this shift faster than most institutions, public or private, have been able to make sense of it.
AI Mediation Movement exists to help close that gap. We are technology and engineering leaders volunteering our expertise toward a public need: helping people understand what these systems can and cannot do, and, more importantly, the power individuals and communities retain to shape their relationship with them.
We are not here to catalog risks for their own sake. Plenty of institutions already do that well. Our purpose is to shift the role of computation toward human-centered values, and to do it through work people can actually use: in their jobs, in their families, in their communities.
That work takes two forms, developed in parallel. In the near term, we publish thought leadership and practical strategies people can put into practice today. Over the longer term, we identify, connect with, and support the people and projects researching and prototyping alternative models of computing, grounded in human values from the start, with the goal of keeping computation safe and beneficial for the people who inherit it after us.
